The University Institute of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard (IUT Belfort-Montbéliard) is a public institution of higher education and is part of the University of Franche-Comté.
It was founded in 1969 in Belfort and was extended to the nearby area of Montbéliard in 1991, which is only 20km away.
The IUT has successfully changed over the « LMD » system : Bachelor’s Degree (Licence), Master’s degree (Master) and Doctorate (Doctorat).
It is currently offering 14 professional licences and therefore allows its students to pursue graduate studies.
Besides, the IUT offers continuing education programs that give access to all the training programs at the IUT and the possibility of Validating Acquired Experience (VAE system)
The Belfort-Montbéliard IUT’s teaching objective is to maximise students’ potential academically and professionally. It aims to provide training programmes that can either be validated directly by finding a professional career, or by pursuing further studies. Although 30% of students choose to enter the job market, it is the second route that attracts most candidates.
The IUT has multiple projects to improve social cohesion in the region: developing apprenticeships, offering greater possibilities for computer-based distance learning, and improving the integration of foreign students by offering a one-year pre-degree foundation course to resolve difficulties with the French language.
The IUT does everything in its power to maintain its vocation as an Institute that is a great place to study…
The 115 IUT of France are part of a network and work in close collaboration. With more than 200 training places, the IUT are situated all over France and work hand in hand with the local labor pool, through tutored projects and the tranfer of technologies.
Since their creation, the IUT have trained more than 1 million graduates and more than 3000 graduates of professional licences. They offer training programmes in all fields of activity in the secondary and the tertiary sector, that is 26 specialities.
